The crankshaft bores are individually partially formed by a semi-circular bearing saddle integrally cast and machined within the block with the saddle having a semi-circular machined bearing cap releasably fitted thereto so as to define a cylindrical bore. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION One or more of the crankshaft main bearing bores in the block of an engine frequently become worn or axially misaligned due to warpage from heat distortion or the like which requires that the engine be torn down for repair.
